DuxWareŽ and HIPAA

• The DuxWareŽ Medical System is a second generation application that was written after the October 2003 deadline for HIPAA compliance. DuxWareŽ incorporates all required HIPAA security and privacy measures in all aspects of the program.
• DuxWareŽ Electronic Transactions comply with ANSI X12 837P- outbound transactions, ANSI X12 835-inbound remittance advice transactions and ANSI X12 270/271 eligibility inquiries
• Automatic user log-out is required by HIPAA and automatically signs users off of the DuxWareŽ system after a certain period of inactivity
• User Passwords are required by HIPAA to be changed every 30 days and this is automatically handled by DuxWareŽ.
• User level program access allows the practice to withhold sensitive information from un-authorized users
• User Audit Logging and Transaction Audit Trails are used continuously by DuxWareŽ to record what users have been where in the system. All Audit Logs are permanent and may be reviewed but not changed at any time by the practice.
• DuxWareŽ uses powerful, industry standard SSL and HTTPS 128-bit encryption for accessing the program, and with all electronic transactions transmitted from the program. Data security is of the utmost importance.
